CVE-2020-13777 is an incorrect cryptographic key-management vulnerability in GnuTLS 3.6.4 through 3.6.13. A flaw in the TOTP-based session ticket encryption key rotation mechanism caused the active session ticket encryption key to remain zero-initialized until the first scheduled rotation. During server session-ticket initialization, the supplied initial key was saved as rotation material, but the key actually used to encrypt tickets was not initialized. The vulnerable initialization routine also prematurely recorded the current rotation window, preventing an immediate rotation that would have populated the active key.

A network-accessible vulnerability with high confidentiality and integrity impact and no availability impact, according to the listed CVSS vectors.
A GnuTLS vulnerability affecting versions >3.6.4 and <3.6.14 where TOTP-based session ticket encryption key rotation left the session ticket encryption key all-zero until the first rotation, enabling confidentiality compromise in TLS 1.2 and man-in-the-middle impact in TLS 1.3.
