CVE-2020-2038 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the management web interface of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS. The flaw allows authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges. The vulnerability affects PAN-OS 9.0 versions before 9.0.10, 9.1 versions before 9.1.4, and 10.0 versions before 10.0.1. PAN-OS 8.1 is not affected. The vulnerability was discovered by Mikhail Klyuchnikov and Nikita Abramov of Positive Technologies.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/http/panos_op_cmd_exec.rb) that exploits CVE-2020-2038, an authenticated OS command injection vulnerability in the management interface of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS. The exploit targets PAN-OS versions prior to 10.0.1, 9.1.4, and 9.0.10. The module requires valid administrator credentials to obtain an API key, which is then used to send crafted requests to the /api/ endpoint on the target device. The vulnerability allows the attacker to execute arbitrary OS commands as root, either by delivering a reverse shell payload (Meterpreter or bash) or by executing arbitrary commands via a command stager. The module is weaponized, supporting multiple payloads and architectures, and is part of the Metasploit framework. The only fingerprintable endpoint is the PAN-OS management API at /api/. The code is well-structured, with clear separation of authentication, version checking, and exploitation logic.
