CVE-2020-25212 is a time-of-check/time-of-use mismatch in the Linux kernel NFSv4 client in versions before 5.8.3. A size validation is performed separately from the NFSv4 XDR response processing that relies on that value, allowing inconsistent handling of a crafted response from an NFS server. An attacker-controlled NFSv4 server can exploit the mismatch to cause memory corruption in a client that mounts the server.
