CVE-2020-26258 is a server-side request forgery vulnerability in XStream versions prior to 1.4.15. When XStream unmarshals attacker-controlled XML input while configured with its default blacklist-based Security Framework, an attacker can manipulate the object stream to cause the application to initiate requests to internal resources. Deployments using an explicit allowlist of permitted types are not affected, nor are deployments running on Java 15 or later.

This repository is a proof-of-concept exploit for CVE-2020-26258, a deserialization vulnerability in the XStream Java library (version 1.4.14). The structure includes a Maven project with a single Java entry point (Main.java) that deserializes a crafted XML file (CVE-2020-26258.xml) using XStream. The XML payload is designed to exploit the vulnerability by causing the Java process to make an outbound HTTP request to a controlled endpoint (https://eo9k3koijwh1jvr.m.pipedream.net), demonstrating the risk of SSRF or data exfiltration. The repository contains standard project files, IDE configuration, and the exploit code. The exploit demonstrates the vulnerability but does not provide a weaponized or customizable payload.
