CVE-2020-2748 is an out-of-bounds access vulnerability in Oracle VM VirtualBox Core affecting versions prior to 5.2.40, 6.0.x prior to 6.0.20, and 6.1.x prior to 6.1.6. The flaw is in the VMSVGA/VBoxSVGA display path used for guest video handling, specifically while processing cursor updates from the guest-controlled SVGA FIFO buffer. A privileged attacker in the guest can control cursor update fields including the screen identifier (aScreenId / SVGA_FIFO_CURSOR_SCREEN_ID). That value is later used by Display::i_displayVBVAReportCursorPosition to index the maFramebuffers array without sufficient bounds validation. When the cursor position update path is triggered, VirtualBox may perform an out-of-bounds access on maFramebuffers[aScreenId], leading to unauthorized read access to a subset of VirtualBox-accessible data.
