This repository provides a proof-of-concept (PoC) local privilege escalation exploit for CVE-2020-28243, a command injection vulnerability in SaltStack's Salt Minion. The exploit consists of a Bash script (exploit.sh) and a small C helper program (helper.c). The Bash script automates the process of creating a process with a specially crafted name containing a shell command, which is then executed as root when the Salt master triggers a restartcheck on the minion. The script allows the user to specify a writable directory and an arbitrary command to execute. The helper C program is compiled and used to create a file with a specific name to facilitate the exploit. The exploit is local and requires the attacker to have write/execute access to a suitable directory on the minion. The README provides detailed usage instructions, requirements, and example payloads. The exploit targets SaltStack Minion versions 2016.3.0rc2 through 3002.2 on Linux systems.
