CVE-2020-35476 is an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in OpenTSDB through version 2.4.0. The graph-rendering handler incorporates the attacker-controlled yrange parameter into a gnuplot script written to a temporary location, which is subsequently processed by a shell-driven gnuplot workflow. The attempted protection of rejecting backticks was insufficient, permitting command-injection constructs that result in execution of attacker-supplied operating-system commands.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting OpenTSDB (versions 2.4.0 and below) for unauthenticated remote code execution via a command injection vulnerability in the 'yrange' parameter (CVE-2020-35476). The exploit works by first verifying the target is OpenTSDB and determining its version via the '/api/version' endpoint. It then fetches available metrics and aggregators, which are required for constructing a valid request. The exploit injects a payload into the 'yrange' parameter of a graph plotting request, which is executed by the server as root. Payloads can be arbitrary shell commands, reverse shells, or Meterpreter sessions, and are delivered using base64 encoding to avoid character escaping issues. The module is weaponized, supporting both in-memory and dropper payloads, and is designed for unauthenticated exploitation over the network. The only file present is a Ruby Metasploit module, and all logic is contained within this file.
