CVE-2020-36185 is an unsafe polymorphic deserialization issue in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.10.8. The library mishandles the interaction between serialization gadgets and type handling for Apache Tomcat DBCP2's SharedPoolDataSource class. When unsafe polymorphic typing is used to deserialize attacker-controlled data and the relevant gadget dependencies are present, an attacker may cause Jackson Databind to instantiate and invoke the gadget chain.
