CVE-2020-5258 is a prototype pollution vulnerability in the Dojo npm package affecting the deepCopy method in vulnerable releases. The flaw allows attacker-controlled properties to be copied into JavaScript object prototypes, including base object prototypes, by supplying crafted input that causes unsafe recursive property assignment during deep copy operations. This can overwrite or pollute inherited properties used throughout an application, altering application logic and object behavior in unintended ways. The issue affects vulnerable Dojo versions prior to the patched releases and is fixed in versions 1.12.8, 1.13.7, 1.14.6, 1.15.3, and 1.16.2; advisory data also indicates a fix is available in the 1.11 branch starting with 1.11.10.
