CVE-2020-5410 is a path traversal vulnerability in the Spring Cloud Config Server module of Spring Cloud Config. In affected releases, attacker-controlled application name and label values are incorporated into configuration-resource locations without sufficient path validation. Crafted request values can traverse outside the intended configuration location and cause the server to serve arbitrary local configuration resources. The vulnerable resource-resolution flow ultimately opens a connection to the attacker-influenced resource location. The flaw also permits suffix-validation bypass through fragment handling in affected processing paths.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module that exploits a directory traversal vulnerability (CVE-2020-5410) in Spring Cloud Config Server. The module targets unauthenticated HTTP endpoints (default port 8888) and allows attackers to read arbitrary files from the server's filesystem by sending a crafted GET request with a directory traversal payload. The exploit is configurable for the target URI, file path, and traversal depth, with defaults set to the root path and /etc/passwd. The file contents are saved as loot for further analysis. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a typical Metasploit module, making it easy to use within the Metasploit framework for operational exploitation or security testing.
