CVE-2020-8116 is a prototype-pollution vulnerability in the dot-prop npm package. In affected releases, the set function insufficiently restricts property paths and can be induced to process constructor, prototype, or proto path segments. An attacker can thereby add or modify properties on Object.prototype, affecting JavaScript objects that inherit from it. The issue affects dot-prop versions before 4.2.1 on the 4.x branch and before 5.1.1 on the 5.x branch.
