CVE-2021-1499 is an unauthenticated arbitrary file upload vulnerability in the Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform. The /upload endpoint allows remote attackers to upload files without authentication, and due to insufficient input sanitization, files can be written to any location writable by the Tomcat user. This enables remote code execution by uploading a malicious .war file to the Tomcat webapps directory, which is then automatically deployed due to Tomcat's hot deployment configuration. The vulnerability is present in the default configuration and is easily exploitable in enterprise environments.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/http/cisco_hyperflex_file_upload_rce.rb) that exploits CVE-2021-1499, an unauthenticated file upload vulnerability in Cisco HyperFlex HX Data Platform. The exploit targets the /upload HTTP endpoint, allowing an attacker to upload a malicious WAR or JSP payload and achieve remote code execution as the Tomcat user. The module supports both Java and Linux payloads (e.g., Meterpreter reverse shells) and is fully integrated into the Metasploit framework, providing weaponized exploitation capabilities. The code includes logic to check for the presence of the vulnerable product, upload the payload, and trigger its execution. Key fingerprintable endpoints include the /upload HTTP path and the file paths where the payload is stored on the target system. The repository is structured as a typical Metasploit exploit module, with all logic contained in a single Ruby file.
