CVE-2021-26341 is a transient-execution vulnerability affecting AMD Zen1 and Zen2 processors. Under conditions associated with absent or evicted Branch Target Buffer entries, direct unconditional JMP and CALL instructions can be mispredicted, causing transient execution of fall-through instructions that architecturally should be unreachable. This constitutes a variant of Straight-Line Speculation. Although the speculative window is short, speculative loads can create cache-observable effects and may disclose data. Store-to-Load Forwarding can supply data to dependent instructions within the transient window, enabling practical cache side-channel gadgets, including gadgets capable of disclosing kernel-address information.
