CVE-2021-26401 is an insufficient speculative-execution mitigation affecting the AMD LFENCE/JMP sequence (MITIGATION V2-2) intended to mitigate Spectre Variant 2 (CVE-2017-5715). On AMD Zen, Zen+, Zen 2, and Zen 3 processors, an incorrectly predicted indirect branch can retain a speculative-execution window large enough to permit exploitation despite the LFENCE/JMP sequence. The condition was observed when a specific workload executes on a simultaneous multithreading sibling thread.
