CVE-2021-29921 is an improper input-validation flaw in Python’s standard-library ipaddress module. Vulnerable versions mishandle IPv4 address strings containing octets with leading zeroes. Applications that use ipaddress to validate attacker-controlled addresses can make security decisions on a representation that is interpreted differently by another parser or downstream consumer. This discrepancy can bypass IP-address-based restrictions, including protections intended to constrain server-side requests.
