CVE-2021-32706 is an authenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the Pi-hole Web Interface (v5.5 and earlier). The vulnerability is due to improper input validation in the validDomainWildcard preg_match filter, where a period is not properly escaped, allowing malicious characters to bypass the filter. Authenticated attackers can inject payloads into configuration files (such as /etc/pihole/setupVars.conf) and trigger code execution by forcing the application to source these files, leading to arbitrary command execution, directory listing, and file overwriting, including sensitive files and PHP scripts.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module targeting Pi-Hole AdminLTE (Web Interface) versions 5.5 and below (CVE-2021-32706). The exploit leverages insufficient input validation in the 'Top Domains/Top Advertisers' field of the API/Web interface, allowing authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary system commands (with character restrictions) on the Pi-Hole server. The module requires valid credentials for the Pi-Hole admin interface and interacts with the web application via HTTP requests to endpoints such as '/admin/settings.php'. The exploit is operational, providing command execution and output retrieval, but is limited by the allowed character set in the command. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework.
