CVE-2021-33195 is an improper input-validation vulnerability in Go's net package DNS lookup functionality. In affected Go releases before 1.15.13 and 1.16.x before 1.16.5, lookup functions do not validate DNS server replies against RFC 1035 hostname formatting requirements. LookupCNAME, LookupSRV, LookupMX, LookupNS, LookupAddr, and corresponding Resolver methods can consequently return arbitrary DNS-derived values, including invalid host names. Applications that use these values without appropriate validation or output encoding may be exposed to injection of unexpected content, including cross-site scripting.
