CVE-2021-33196 is an uncontrolled resource-consumption vulnerability in the Go standard library archive/zip package. A pre-allocation optimization in zip.NewReader trusts the file-count value declared in a ZIP archive header. A crafted malformed archive declaring a significant number of files can cause zip.NewReader, and consequently OpenReader, to panic or attempt excessive memory allocation.
