CVE-2021-34429 is an encoded URI path-handling flaw in Eclipse Jetty. Jetty versions 9.4.37 through 9.4.42, 10.0.1 through 10.0.5, and 11.0.1 through 11.0.5 can process crafted URIs containing certain encoded characters in a manner that permits access to resources beneath the normally protected WEB-INF directory and bypasses some security constraints. The issue is a variation of CVE-2021-28164.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module targeting Jetty servers vulnerable to CVE-2021-34429 and CVE-2021-28164. The module exploits a path traversal vulnerability that allows remote attackers to access protected files within the WEB-INF directory by sending HTTP requests with specially encoded or ambiguous paths (e.g., /%u002e/WEB-INF/web.xml or /%2e/WEB-INF/web.xml). The module checks the Jetty version via the Server header, determines if the target is vulnerable, and, if so, retrieves the specified file (default: web.xml) from the server. The exploit is operational, providing file disclosure capabilities but not remote code execution. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework.
This repository is a proof-of-concept (POC) for CVE-2021-34429, a sensitive file disclosure vulnerability in Eclipse Jetty 11.0.5. The repository contains a minimal web application (index.jsp and web.xml) and a docker-compose setup to run Jetty 11.0.5 with the vulnerable configuration. The README provides detailed instructions for setting up the environment and demonstrates how to exploit the vulnerability by making a GET request to a specially crafted URL (using a Unicode-encoded dot) to access files inside the normally protected WEB-INF directory. The exploit does not include any advanced payloads or automation; it is a manual POC demonstrating the vulnerability. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting HTTP endpoints. The repository is structured for easy testing and demonstration of the vulnerability, with clear separation between configuration, application files, and documentation.
