CVE-2021-35449 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in Lexmark Universal Print Driver version 2.15.1.0 and below, G2 driver 2.7.1.0 and below, G3 driver 3.2.0.0 and below, and G4 driver 4.2.1.0 and below. The vulnerability allows a low-privileged user to execute a DLL of their choosing during the add printer process, resulting in code execution as SYSTEM. The attack leverages the Bring Your Own Print Driver (BYOPD) technique, where a vulnerable driver is staged and exploited to load a malicious DLL from a user-writable location (e.g., ProgramData).

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (lexmark_driver_privesc.rb) that exploits a local privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2021-35449) in various Lexmark Universal Printer drivers on Windows. The exploit works by modifying the 'Universal Color Laser.gdl' configuration file for the Lexmark driver to replace the path to 'unires.dll' with a path to a malicious DLL. When a printer is added using the Windows 'prnmngr.vbs' script, the PrintIsolationHost.exe process (running as SYSTEM) loads the malicious DLL, resulting in SYSTEM-level code execution. The module includes logic to identify vulnerable drivers, select or accept a driver name, drop a payload DLL, modify the configuration file, trigger the exploit, and clean up by removing the printer. The exploit requires a Meterpreter session and targets Windows systems with affected Lexmark drivers installed. The only file in the repository is the Metasploit module itself, written in Ruby.
