CVE-2021-4002 is a Linux kernel huge-page mapping flaw affecting Linux 3.6 and later. When a page of PMD mappings is unmapped by clearing a PUD entry, the kernel fails to perform the required TLB flush. Consequently, stale huge-page translations can remain usable. A local attacker can manipulate huge-page shared-memory mappings, including mappings created with SHM_HUGETLB or MAP_HUGETLB, to expose or corrupt data stored in hugetlbfs-backed huge pages.
