CVE-2021-43859 is an uncontrolled resource-consumption vulnerability in XStream versions earlier than 1.4.19. A crafted XML input stream containing highly recursive collections or maps can cause disproportionately long collection-update processing, consuming all available CPU time. XStream 1.4.19 adds elapsed-time monitoring for collection-element additions and raises an exception when the configured threshold is exceeded.
