CVE-2021-43975 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Aquantia AQtion Atlantic Ethernet driver, specifically in hw_atl_utils_fw_rpc_wait(). Linux kernel versions through 5.15.2 are affected. An attacker able to introduce a crafted or emulated networking device can supply a crafted length value that triggers a write outside the intended kernel-memory bounds. Exploitation can crash the system, and the resulting memory corruption may also affect confidentiality and integrity.
