CVE-2021-44515 affects Zoho ManageEngine Desktop Central and Desktop Central MSP. The vulnerability is an authentication bypass in the StateFilter component mapped to /STATE_ID/*, where StateFilter.doFilter processes attacker-supplied state and then forwards the request via RequestDispatcher.forward before normal filter-chain enforcement. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to reach internal servlet endpoints that would normally require authentication. Public analysis indicates this partial authentication bypass was chained with a directory traversal in AgentLogUploadServlet to write a malicious archive into the server's lib directory, where it could be loaded as a malicious JAR after restart, resulting in remote code execution. The issue was reported as exploited in the wild in December 2021.
