CVE-2021-45486 is an information-disclosure vulnerability in the Linux kernel IPv4 implementation. IPv4 ID generation initialized by ip_rt_init used an insufficiently large hash table, allowing collisions in shared IP ID counter state. A patient remote attacker can observe and influence IP ID allocation behavior to infer sensitive information from resulting counter changes. The issue affects Linux kernels before 5.12.4 and was addressed upstream beginning with Linux 5.13-rc1, with fixes backported to maintained distributions.
