CVE-2021-47492 is a Linux kernel transparent huge-page (THP) flaw in collapse_file. The function did not explicitly reject pages under writeback, relying instead on page-private handling and try_to_release_page(). That filtering is ineffective for XFS when its block size is equal to or larger than the page size because such pages have no page-private data. A THP collapse can therefore proceed on an XFS writeback page, leading to an invalid page state during XFS writeback completion and a kernel BUG or panic.
