A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's TCP stack allowed for stream corruption when serving HTTP requests from an Apache web server using a CIFS mount-point with memory-mapped files. The issue arises from nested access to the task page fragment (sk_page_frag) due to a page fault on a memory-mapped user-space buffer from a CIFS file. The page fault handler could perform an SMB transaction on a different socket within the same process context, leading to a nested allocation that corrupts the page fragment in use by the outer sendmsg call, resulting in TCP stream corruption.
