CVE-2021-47606 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the Linux kernel netlink subsystem's af_netlink implementation. af_netlink could permit an empty socket buffer (skb), with both skb->len and skb->data_len equal to zero, to reach packet processing. When such a buffer is enqueued through the netem traffic-control queue discipline with randomized packet corruption enabled, netem_enqueue computes a random offset modulo skb_headlen(skb). A zero head length causes a divide-by-zero exception and kernel crash. The upstream fix validates the netlink message length to prevent creation or processing of an empty skb.
