CVE-2022-1373 is a directory traversal vulnerability in the 'restore configuration' feature of Softing Secure Integration Server versions up to and including V1.22. When processing zip files during configuration restore, the application fails to properly sanitize file paths, allowing an attacker to craft a zip archive containing files with directory traversal sequences. This can result in arbitrary DLL files being written to sensitive locations on disk, which may then be executed, leading to remote code execution.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (softing_sis_rce.rb) that exploits a chain of two vulnerabilities (CVE-2022-1373 and CVE-2022-2334) in Softing Secure Integration Server v1.22 for Windows x64. The exploit works by uploading a ZIP file containing a malicious DLL to the server's configuration restore endpoint, abusing a directory traversal flaw to plant the DLL in the Windows System32 directory. Upon service restart, the server loads the DLL, resulting in remote code execution as SYSTEM. The module supports both password and signature-based authentication, requiring valid credentials. The payload is a DLL, which can be custom or generated by Metasploit, and is executed on the target. The module is weaponized, providing full remote code execution capabilities, and is suitable for post-exploitation activities. The main endpoints targeted are HTTP API routes for authentication and configuration restore, and the attack vector is network-based. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module.
