CVE-2022-21166, also known as Device Register Partial Write (DRPW), is an Intel Processor MMIO Stale Data vulnerability affecting certain Intel Xeon Scalable, client, and Xeon E3 processor families. Incomplete cleanup during specific device-register write operations can occur when an MMIO endpoint improperly handles a partial write. Stale bytes from a processor fill buffer can be copied with the intended write data into the device register and subsequently returned by a read operation, disclosing stale information.
