CVE-2022-21505 is an authentication-bypass flaw in Linux kernel Integrity Measurement Architecture (IMA) appraisal policy handling. When kernel lockdown is used without Secure Boot, IMA permits the ima_appraise=log boot parameter. A sufficiently privileged local user can then use kexec to bypass lockdown protections. IMA prevents this parameter under Secure Boot, but the protection did not cover lockdown deployments where Secure Boot is disabled or unavailable.
