CVE-2022-21698 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Prometheus client_golang prior to version 1.11.1. The promhttp HTTP-server instrumentation middleware permits unbounded metric-label cardinality when it processes requests using non-standard HTTP methods. Each distinct method can create a new labeled metric series, potentially exhausting memory. The issue affects uses of promhttp.InstrumentHandler* middleware other than RequestsInFlight when a metric passed to the middleware has a method label.
