ThinVNC version 1.0b1 contains an authentication bypass in the /cmd endpoint. An unauthenticated remote user can request /cmd?cmd=connect and obtain a valid session identifier (SID) without successfully completing authentication. With that SID, the attacker can interact with the exposed remote desktop session by sending keyboard and mouse events to the server. Because ThinVNC is a browser-accessible remote desktop product, this access can be leveraged to control the host through the active desktop session and potentially execute commands on the server.

This repository contains a Python exploit script (cve-2022-25226.py) and a detailed README.md for CVE-2022-25226, an authentication bypass and remote code execution vulnerability in ThinVNC 1.0b1. The exploit leverages unauthenticated access to the /cmd endpoint to simulate user input, open PowerShell, bypass AMSI, and execute a reverse shell payload hosted by the attacker. The script chains several HTTP requests to the ThinVNC backend, using clipboard injection and simulated keystrokes to execute arbitrary PowerShell commands. The attacker must host a reverse shell script (rev.ps1) and set up a listener to receive the shell. The exploit is operational and provides a working reverse shell if the target is vulnerable and properly configured. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting exposed ThinVNC instances. The endpoints used are all HTTP requests to the /cmd endpoint with various parameters to control the session and inject commands.
