CVE-2022-26871 is an arbitrary file upload vulnerability in Trend Micro Apex Central and Apex Central as a Service. The issue is described as an improper check of file contents in the product’s file handling/upload functionality. Because uploaded content is not properly validated, a remote unauthenticated attacker can upload an arbitrary file to a vulnerable Apex Central instance. Trend Micro and JPCERT/CC state that successful exploitation can lead to remote code execution. Reported affected versions include Trend Micro Apex Central 2019 prior to Build 6016 and Apex Central as a Service prior to Build 202203. Trend Micro also reported that exploitation attempts were observed in the wild at the time of disclosure.
