CVE-2022-3094 is a resource-exhaustion vulnerability in BIND 9 dynamic DNS update processing. The named daemon allocates memory before checking update ACLs and retains that memory while processing updates from clients whose access credentials are accepted. A sufficiently large flood of dynamic updates can therefore consume available memory and cause named to terminate. The issue affects BIND 9.16.0 through 9.16.36, 9.18.0 through 9.18.10, 9.19.0 through 9.19.8, and Supported Preview Edition 9.16.8-S1 through 9.16.36-S1. BIND 9.11 and earlier branches are affected through exhaustion of internal resources, which can reduce performance.
