CVE-2022-30995 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability in Acronis Cyber Protect 15 (Windows, Linux) before build 29486 and Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 (Windows, Linux) before build 16545. The vulnerability arises from improper authentication in the agent registration process, allowing unauthenticated attackers with network access to register new agents anonymously. Upon registration, attackers can obtain high-privilege bearer tokens, which grant access to the management web console and allow arbitrary command execution on both the appliance and its agents. The vulnerability is present in the default configuration, which permits anonymous agent registration and issues overly privileged bearer tokens.
