CVE-2022-31195 is a path traversal vulnerability in DSpace's ItemImportServiceImpl during import of Simple Archive Format (SAF) packages. In affected versions, crafted path values within a malicious SAF package are not sufficiently constrained to the intended import directory, allowing file system paths to traverse outside the expected location. As a result, when the package is processed via the administrative batch import functionality, the application may create files or directories at arbitrary locations writable by the Tomcat/DSpace service account. The issue affects XMLUI, JSPUI, and command-line import workflows. According to the provided advisory, DSpace 7.x is not impacted.
