CVE-2022-36536 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in Super Flexible Software GmbH & Co. KG Syncovery 9 for Linux, affecting version 9.47x and earlier. The issue is in the post_applogin.php component, where attackers can create crafted session tokens that are accepted by the application, enabling unauthorized elevation of privileges. Based on the available information, the flaw appears to stem from improper authorization or insufficient protection of session token integrity within the application login/session handling logic.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary scanner module targeting Syncovery File Sync & Backup Software for Linux (Web-GUI) vulnerable to CVE-2022-36536. The exploit leverages the predictable session token generation mechanism in Syncovery, where tokens are simply base64-encoded timestamps. The module brute-forces possible tokens for a configurable date range (default: today and yesterday) and attempts to authenticate to the Web-GUI (default port 8999). If a valid token is found, it is reported, granting unauthorized access to the Web-GUI. The module includes logic to check the target's version and only attempts exploitation if the target is likely vulnerable (version < 9.48j). The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework. The main endpoints targeted are the root path (/) and '/get_global_variables' for version detection. The exploit is operational and provides a practical method for unauthorized access if the vulnerability is present.
