CVE-2022-48686 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel NVMe over TCP transport. When digest validation detects an error, the NVMe/TCP I/O work loop can continue attempting to read from a TCP stream that is already corrupted or out of synchronization after read processing has been re-enabled. The upstream fix exits the I/O work loop when this state is set, preventing subsequent access to freed or invalid state.
