CVE-2022-48796 is a use-after-free race in the Linux kernel IOMMU subsystem during device probing. When a device probe fails, dev_iommu_free() frees the device IOMMU state while deferred probing can concurrently execute of_iommu_configure() and dereference the IOMMU firmware-specification member through the stale device IOMMU pointer. The fix clears the device IOMMU pointer before releasing the associated structure, preventing concurrent deferred-probe code from accessing freed memory.
