CVE-2022-48936 was rejected or withdrawn by its CVE Numbering Authority in August 2024. The associated Linux kernel defect affected Generic Segmentation Offload handling of IP-in-IP traffic transmitted through net_failover. In a path where GRO-processed host traffic reaches a VM through virtio_net and net_failover, is processed by IPVS full NAT, encapsulated with IPIP, and transmitted again through net_failover, the packet network-header pointer could reference the inner IP header rather than the outer encapsulation header. For packets marked with TCPv4, DODGY, and IP-in-IP GSO attributes, net_failover does not segment the packet because it supports the relevant offloads, leaving the incorrect header reference and causing TCP packet drops.
