CVE-2022-49667 is a use-after-free defect in the Linux kernel bonding driver’s IEEE 802.3ad/LACP aggregation handling. In bonds with multiple aggregation groups, bond_3ad_unbind_slave() can clear an aggregator after __agg_active_ports() returns zero, even while the group’s actual port count remains nonzero. A subsequent slave-unbind operation can then process the previously cleared aggregator. Because the slave-port list is not updated when lag_ports is NULL, slave ports can retain references to freed aggregator memory. The LACP state-machine workqueue subsequently dereferences that memory in bond_3ad_state_machine_handler(). The fix restores validation of the aggregation group’s actual port count before ad_clear_agg() is called.
