CVE-2022-49674 is an out-of-bounds memory-access vulnerability in the Linux kernel Device Mapper RAID (dm-raid) component. During dm-raid table loading, the RAID-member array is allocated using rs->raid_disks, which is based on the metadata and image tuples supplied to the target constructor. During a RAID layout change, the existing array count recorded in rs->md.raid_disks can exceed this newly allocated count. Device-control loops that use rs->md.raid_disks as their bound can consequently access beyond the end of the rs->devs array. Affected layout-change operations include adding or removing RAID1 legs, reshaping RAID4/5/6/10 stripe counts, and RAID5-to-RAID6 takeover.
