CVE-2022-49788 is an information-disclosure vulnerability in the Linux kernel VMware VMCI (vmw_vmci) driver. A struct vmci_event_qp instance created by qp_notify_peer() contains uninitialized padding. The datagram-receive path in vmci_host_do_receive_datagram() can copy this structure to userspace, exposing the uninitialized padding through copy_to_user(). KMSAN observed four uninitialized bytes within a 48-byte userspace copy. The related qp_notify_peer_local() path may have the same condition.
