CVE-2022-50020 is an ext4 filesystem flaw in the Linux kernel's online-resize handling. When a filesystem is resized online to a target size that is not integral to its cluster size, the final resize iteration can calculate a negative filesystem-growth amount. This triggers a BUG_ON condition and can leave the ext4 in-memory superblock corrupted. The upstream fix prevents attempts to resize to an unaligned, partial-cluster boundary.
