CVE-2022-50070 is a race condition in the Linux kernel Multipath TCP (MPTCP) implementation. An MPTCP-level transmission or retransmission can race with connection closure through mptcp_close(). The packet scheduler previously evaluated a subflow's state before acquiring that subflow socket's lock, allowing it subsequently to queue or retransmit data on a subflow socket that had already been closed. The condition can trigger an inet_sock_destruct warning during socket teardown. The upstream fix revalidates subflow socket status while holding the subflow socket lock and adds the corresponding status check for the fallback-to-TCP path.
