CVE-2022-50386 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel Bluetooth L2CAP subsystem. Incorrect L2CAP channel lifetime handling can allow code to access a channel after its reference count has reached zero and the channel has been destroyed. The failure manifests as a KASAN-detected use-after-free during mutex locking. The upstream fix obtains a channel reference with l2cap_chan_hold_unless_zero() after __l2cap_get_chan_blah(), preventing use of a channel that is being or has been released.
