CVE-2023-0159 affects the Extensive VC Addons for WPBakery page builder WordPress plugin before version 1.9.1. The plugin does not properly validate a parameter passed to PHP's extract() function during template loading. Because user-controlled input can override the template path, an unauthenticated attacker can cause the application to load unintended files and read arbitrary files from the underlying host file system. The available description also notes that this file-read condition may be further escalated to remote code execution through the use of PHP filter chains.
