CVE-2023-23455 is a type-confusion vulnerability in the Linux kernel ATM traffic-control scheduler's atm_tc_enqueue function in net/sched/sch_atm.c. A non-negative return value can be interpreted as the TC_ACT_SHOT action condition rather than as a valid packet-classification result. The resulting invalid handling can trigger a kernel denial of service. The issue affects Linux kernel versions through 6.1.4 and is recorded as fixed upstream in 6.2-rc3.
