CVE-2023-25135 is a critical pre-authentication remote code execution vulnerability in vBulletin prior to 5.6.9 PL1. The vulnerability arises from insecure handling of PHP object deserialization in the '/ajax/api/user/save' endpoint. The function 'verify_serialized' attempts to validate serialized input by calling 'unserialize' and checking for errors, but this approach is unsafe and allows attackers to supply malicious serialized PHP objects. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted HTTP request containing a malicious payload, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the server.
